Light and more characters

I’m learning how to render characters in scenes now. It’s harder than it was in Poser, because in Poser I could just set the environment in the background to not cast any shadows, and then add any necessary background shadows in postwork. So it didn’t matter if a scene was inside or outside, the light on the characters worked regardless.

I haven’t found a good way to do that in Iray, and I don’t know if I want to anyway. I can definitely render foreground and background separately, in fact I think it will be even easier than it used to be. But if a scene is indoors, I can’t depend on my default lights to light the scene, they are blocked by the roof and walls, so the whole scene is in shadow. I have to learn how to add lighting for indoor scenes.

Anyway I’m also playing around with characters still. I have my first story worked out, now I just have to get to the point where I can render it… and also get Photoshop working with new comic templates and fonts and effects and everything. So still a ways to go.

Anyway here are some new and returning characters. Actually the only one that’s “returning” is Tinker, on the left side. Riposte was made, but I hadn’t used her in a comic yet. Hopefully she’ll appear before the next time I destroy all my data!
